The warm shallow waters of Anne’s Beach have long welcomed tourists and locals alike.
In 2017 it also received new funding for upgrades to the boardwalks and facilities.
Named after environmentalist and Lower Matecumbe resident Anne Eaton, the beach is one of the most popular areas that tourists are directed to in this section of the Keys.
Always a pretty spot, It’s very popular for swimming and kite boarding, and also has convenient picnic facilities.
Anne’s Beach an easy visit with KeyLargoHolidayRental.com Florida Keys History & Discovery Center Curator Brad Bertelli describes the beach as “one of the few natural beaches remaining where people can come and put their feet in the water” and enjoy the peace and tranquility the Keys offer. This is one of those naturally beautiful spots with a wide expanse of shallow warm water.
Swimming, kite boarding, restrooms and picnic facilities; free parking but limited spaces. This is a great beach because it is shallow for a long way out.
There are also boardwalks, picnic spots and toilet facilities. You can see lots of wildlife and walk all the way out to the channel and still be in knee deep water most of the time.
Take the kids and take a bucket, a blanket and lunch.
